Asset Bible

The Asset Bible application was developed to replace an existing Microsoft Access solution that was not robust or flexible enough to handle the client’s current requirements. The application was completely redeveloped using the latest Microsoft .Net and AJAX technologies.

The application provides the ability to store the details and locations of various assets grouped by asset area. The asset information can then quickly be retrieved using an easy to use search mechanism. In addition to the general information about the asset, the contact details of the contractors that are responsible for maintenance of that asset are also stored. If an asset fault is reported the correct contractor can be located and contacted.

The application has been designed with speed and responsiveness in mind, and using some of the latest AJAX technologies available the user interface is highly responsive and intuitive.

Easy to use

Having a central repository for all asset information across many departments ensures that information held about the company’s assets is consistent and accurate. Add the ability to link these assets to various locations and the maintenance contractor and you have a powerful tool for asset management and maintenance.

Locating assets is easy - simply type the first few characters of the assets description and click on the search button. All assets matching the search criteria are then displayed in a paged grid. The searches can also be restricted to a particular asset area or location, such as a station or line.

Need information on a particular station or contractor? Select the required item from the available list and click the applicable details button and all information saved about that item will be displayed.

The system has also been integrated with a VOIP system allowing the user to easily dial phone numbers from within the application.

Safe and secure

Through its flexible security system administrators can quickly secure the system ensuring that the correct departments only have access to the data that is relevant to them.

Users are required to sign into the system and are granted privileges based upon their user group, this guarantees that only high level user groups can make critical application modifications.

The application is provided with full auditing capability. Any changes to data are captured and can later be verified by the system administrators.

As with all SAnDS applications, data integrity is of utmost importance with strict database rules in place to ensure that the underlying data is consistent and accurate.

Using the latest technology

Asset Bible is a secure web-based application developed with the user experience in mind. The application is developed using Microsoft C# and targets the Microsoft.Net 3.5 Framework. Data is securely stored in a Microsoft SQL Server database. A responsive and dynamic environment is provided to the user by utilising the latest AJAX technologies.
